SCIENCE

  • Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. Math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. Partners include NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, and MIT to offer specialized content.
  • Infiniscopes is a very unique interactive science platform developed by Arizona State University and NASA. The explorations are a cutting edge approach for combining eLearning with technology.
  • PhET founded in 2002 by Nobel Laureate Carl Wieman, the PhET Interactive Simulations project at the University of Colorado Boulder creates free interactive math and science simulations. PhET sims are based on extensive education research and engage students through an intuitive, game-like environment where students learn through exploration and discovery.
  • Exploratorium provides over 35,000 pages of content, film screenings, including art and science events for students, plus much more. The content exhibits and expertise offers new methods for the way science is taught and is also shared with museums worldwide.
  • The Concord Consortium engages students with scientifically accurate virtual labs and hands-on digital tools. Make the invisible visible and explorable in a way that brings out the inner scientist in everyone.

  • Big History Project as recommended by Bill Gates this free, online social studies course emphasizes the development of a set of intellectual tools. This allows students to think critically, tie together big ideas, and build informed arguments—and practice these skills across disciplines. The overall process draws mind-blowing connections between past, present and future. Followers include 1,600 teachers and 80,000 students are teaching and taking the course each year.
